Title:The Fading Dusk (Smoke and Mirrors, #1)
Author: Melissa Giorgio
Release Date: July 19th 2015
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:

In the gritty city of Dusk, seventeen-year-old Irina makes her living as the street magician Bantheir’s assistant. The job isn’t glamorous, but she loves the crowds, the shows, and most of all, the illusion of magic. But Irina’s world is shattered the night she is arrested and charged as Bantheir’s accomplice to murder—murder by magic.
Real magic, the kind that’s been forbidden since the old wars.
Irina finds the idea of flashy showman Bantheir using actual magic to kill someone laughable, but she’s the only one who sees how ridiculous the claim is. But how can she convince everyone Bantheir is innocent when they’ve already made up their minds? Desperate, Irina must decide who she can trust to help her win her freedom. Is the surly, handsome Captain Leonid telling the truth when he says he believes Irina is innocent, or is he just using her to get to Bantheir? What about Aden, the sweet soldier and longtime fan of Irina’s who claims he’s on her side?
Irina said she wanted to know the truth, but when she stumbles across a dark secret that changes everything, will she be strong enough to survive?

Looks quite interesting eh? :)

WAIT! Show is not over my friends, I have a guest post too! Yay me!

"My guest post idea is, do you use montages to help you with anything? If so, what is your selection technique?"

When I wrote The Fading Dusk, I hadn’t even heard of Pinterest, but I wish I had because I definitely would have used it during the drafting of the book! I joined last year, and now I make boards for all of my books. So my montage was created after The Fading Dusk had been written and edited, but it was still a lot of fun looking for images that reminded me of the book! Besides pinning a ton of curly red hair images (because Irina, the protagonist, has curly red hair), I searched for images from Victorian England. The Fading Dusk is set in its own world with its own set of rules, but from the very first outline I knew it had a Victorian feel to it. I love the gothic buildings of that time; they fit perfectly with the dark, gritty image I have of the city of Dusk. When it came time to write the second book in the series, I created a secret board (sorry, you can’t see it yet!) and pinned while I drafted. Some images I picked before I even started writing, but some I pinned as I was writing. In the second book there’s a scene that takes place in a hedge maze, so I searched Pinterest for images of hedge mazes. Having examples in front of me helps me visualize the scene and allows me to describe things I might not normally even think about (the stones on the ground or the shape of the hedges, for example). I also like to search for images of people, although finding exact matches of my characters is difficult most of the time. I’m better off finding the image first and then creating the character because once I’ve written an entire story about them, their image is fixed in my mind, and I’ll never find someone who matches. I’m pretty picky about what images I pin, which is why my boards only contain around forty images, instead of hundreds. Although I’m sure, as I write the next books in the Smoke and Mirrors series, that I will be adding more images to my boards!
