Waiting on Wednesday: A Fiendish Agreement

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: A Fiendish Arrangement
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Series: The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding
Release Date: 5th September 2017
Synopsis:

"I would say it's a pleasure to meet thee, Prosperity Oceanus Redding, but truly, I only anticipate the delights of destroying thy happiness."

Prosper is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history — that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper's great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made — and then broke — a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, four-thousand-year-old Alastor isn't exactly the forgiving type.

The fiend has reawakened with one purpose — to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed him. With only days to break the curse and banish Alastor back to the demon realm, Prosper is playing unwilling host to the fiend, who delights in tormenting him with nasty insults and constant attempts trick him into a contract. Yeah, Prosper will take his future without a side of eternal servitude, thanks.

Little does Prosper know, the malefactor's control over his body grows stronger with each passing night, and there's a lot Alastor isn't telling his dim-witted (but admittedly strong-willed) human host.

From #1 New York Times best-selling author Alexandra Bracken comes a tale of betrayal and revenge, of old hurts passed down from generation to generation. Can you ever fully right a wrong, ever truly escape your history? Or will Prosper and Alastor be doomed to repeat it?

Until I See You Again

Title: Until I See You Again
Author: Joshua Cole
Published: 12th February 2015
My Rating: 3/5
Recommend: Yes
Synopsis:

Recently divorced, Amy isn’t looking for another relationship. Then she runs into handsome, gregarious Michael, a friend of the family whom she hasn’t seen in years. Will this chance encounter finally lead to the love Amy has wanted all of her life? Download this short-story today to find out!

This was a very short story about Amy and Michael who meet after so many years at a convention centre, there is that instant reconnection again.

Amy who is recently divorced from Robert has a son name Tyler. Tyler is apple of his mothers eye and Amy is constantly worried about Robert not looking after their son properly, she is tempted to call him and see how he is doing. Knowing Robert though he loves his job more than her. Then enters Michael, Robert's good friend. He stops coming by one day and just disappears until now.

I really enjoyed the instant chemistry between Amy and Michael, they have secretly had a crush for each other over the last few years so I am glad they finally get together. It was sweet to see them enjoying one another's company and reminiscing about their past.

There isn't really much I can comment on since this was s short story with about 3 chapters but I didn't like where it ended. I wanted to know more about their relationship. Would they end up married? What does Tyler think? I guess I will never know...

Have a fab week!

In With The New

Title: In With New
Author: Tracy Krimmer
Published: 27th December 2016
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: YES
Synopsis:

Eli no longer believes in love,
and Meg has no time for it.

Can the spirit of Christmas and hope of a new year change their perspectives?

I really loved this book! I can't tell you how much I adored Eli and Meg. In With New is told from both of point of views, we get to peak inside both Eli's and Meg's head. Meg being a new dog owner with Moose has no idea about dog's ( I am assuming she never realised the extent to which how a puppy can be quite handful sometimes). Then enters Eli, the charming, handsome, tall dog owner. Eli is a bit of a expert in dog training, he should be as dog owners come to him to help train their dog. The way he does it though is so simple and always in baby steps. I fell in love with Eli instantly, he is a bit hard to resist don't you think?

Eli is sweet, wonderful and a kind person. With a relationship in the past gone bad, he severs he ties with his brother and family. He lives alone with his dog Phil at his side (like he says he always did think dogs are a man's best friend).

Meg is a YouTuber who reviews products being sent to her by companies, she is constantly busy. It is safe to say she constantly puts stress on herself and is barely able to make time for herself. And she always helps a person in need, she is unable to say no. Which is a good thing however it does take a toll her...

I really enjoyed Meg and Eli's chemistry, I strongly feel they were perfect for each other. Eli is the type person who doesn't believe in there is never time for anything you care about. Simply stating 'I have no time' is an excuse to get out of it. Meg never has any time but she has a good relationship with her family. See what happens there? They help each other with parts that are deemed as important topics, they also balance each other out = a perfect fit.

I am a little sad this was a short novella, but I really enjoyed reading this. The author's writing is beautifully written, I loved every minute of it.

Let's talk: Don't you just short novella's especially that give you the winter festive season feeling? What are you favourite short stories to read? Let me know in the comments below?

Suttonville Sentinels #2

Title: Swinging At Love
Author: Kendra .C Highley
Published: 13th March 2017
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: Yes!
Synopsis:

Outfielder Tristan Murrell has a problem. As the number two slugger for the Suttonville Sentinels, his team is counting on him to make their very first run at the state championship. But he has a secret—his swing has totally deserted him. As in, he can’t hit anything. He needs to fix the issue, and fast, but how?

Ballerina Alyssa Kaplan has a problem, too. The shiny new sports complex in town has left her family’s batting cage business on the verge of going under. Nailing her audition for a prestigious dance company is everything, but there’s no way she’s letting her some shiny big-box company destroy her family’s livelihood.

Tristan needs a miracle. So does Alyssa. And maybe, just maybe, Tristan’s secret weapon might be the girl of his dreams…

Disclaimer: This book contains hot, shirtless baseball players, kisses that bring a ballerina to her knees, and a lot of baseball smack-talk.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review

Oh dear, here we go again. As if Kyle and Faith were not enough in the first book the second one comes out. I actually had no idea this was going to be a series. I remember reading about Tristan in the first book and oh wow if I thought I loved him in the first book, this one is entirely on a different level.

Alyssa, a ballerina who loves to dance is practicing for the summer camp audition with Lauren (do you remember these two? It actually took me a while to notice that I read the first book and loved it! This series reminds me of The Fine Art of Pretending, loved that book too). Alyssa is caring, confident and knows a lot about baseball and pitching. I guess she would since she used to be a pitcher for the softball team but she leaves it as she loves dancing more. Enters Tristan, who is also really sweet and faces a big problem as he can't seem to hit the ball and his team are counting on him. He doesn't know what the problem is, he comes to Swing Away to practice and have some privacy from the team and here meets the alluring Alyssa.

Alyssa, who is a bit of a expert offers to help him with his troubles. As they slowly start to spend more time with each other, they become increasingly fond with one another. Although the relationship begins with rocky start thanks to Dylan and Lauren but its all in good in the end.

I really loved how they are both willing to go to extreme lengths to help one another, Alyssa helps Tristan and Tristan helps Alyssa save Swing Away, but will they succeed?

OMG! Kyle and Faith are really LOVED up in this book, I wanted more Kyle and Faith. I am hoping they end up married and have adorable babies. You can also see a big change in Kyle thanks to Faith and vice versa.

I am beginning to love the authors writing, it makes me fall in love with the characters all over again. I love how everything seems to just flow and nothing is ever easy for the characters even when I wish they were. There are twists and turns and winning each other back. I love it when the guy has to work for winning his girl back it makes it so much joy reading it. Loved Kyle and Tristan *swoons*.

Movie Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

Movie Details:
Title: Alvin and Chipmunks: The Road Chip
Release Date: 18th December 2015
Cast: Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williams-Paisley , Josh Green, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Kaley Cuoco, Anna Faris, Chrisitina Applegate
Rating: 3/5
Synopsis:

Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City... and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.

Funny to watch, Alvin and the chipmunks learn what it means to go through extreme measures to save their family. Unknown to them, thing's aren't what they seem. As such we join the chipmunks with Miles to stop Dave from proposing to his girlfriend.

OMG! This was so hilarious to see, it always to good to see the chipmunks again! I am in love with these chipmunks, ever since the first film they have stole my heart.

Alvin as usual likes to get himself in trouble, being mischievous and infuriating Dave is in Alvin's blood but we can't help but love him. Simon the mature one who is constantly helping to keep Alvin out of trouble. The ever so cute Theodore tags along with this two older brothers, he wins the audience over with his cuteness.

I really thought the plot was cute but very clichΓ©, this film fails to draw the viewers in although the film makers did a good try. Every scene was predictable, there was no surprises which could have favoured the film. However, that is not to say there were no sweet moments between the characters, there is especially between Miles and chipmunks it was good to see them finally working with each other and considering one another family.

These CGI effects I always find it fascinating, the more movies I watch the more I am intrigued as to how this process works. I may make it a goal of mine to see (or become one of those people) who are behind the scenes.

Overall, a fun cute movie to watch. I still prefer the first movie though. That will always be my favourite from the franchise!
