I have a confession to make....

No Loki don't look at me like that, I didn't do anything major like steal someone's book or damage it, It is purely innocent well kind of,,,

The only reason I had ever heard of Moana was because Dwayne Johnson was doing it!

Okay normally I wouldn't base on choosing movies by the actors, I like deciding on the script, story line, the plot, the feel of the film after watching the trailer. But this one I wanted to watch because of DJ, I am actually glad I did because I learned so many things in the movie.

Newcomer Auli'l Carvalho debuts her acting skills in the new Disney animated movie, Moana. Set in the backdrop of Hawaii, Motunui , one young girl sets  on a quest to save the world as darkness descends and is destroying everything in its path. As the tale is told this all a result of Maui trying to steal the heart, his whereabouts are unknown. How will Moana save her island and her people now?

I really loved the plot of the movie, I love learning about new cultures, so the fact that I got to know more about the Polynesian people and their traditions (or at least some version of it) was simply mind-blowing. Just like in Frozen the heroine is female, although I am not sexist I love this new norm or change of females being represented as strong, independent women who can do anything they want to. Each tattoo on Maui's body is earned from a significant event happening in his life, this is probably my favourite part in the whole movie because not only does it add depth to the story but it also unveils true emotion in the viewers heart (oh was that only me? I am such a cry baby for happy endings)

Okay so bear with me here, I know previously I have stated the CGI is amazing in some films but in this film they were truly astonishing, mind-blowing and just awesome. They will dazzle you. The animator for this movie, Eric Goldberg has truly done a phenomenal job in this film, tattoos that come alive? YES PLEASE! I loved the aspect of the tattoo represented as the voice of reason for Maui, Eric has truly done a commendable job! Also, the hook that Maui uses serves as a symbol of Maui's power without it he is truly nothing. Albeit, I have to wonder where his hook would go when he transforms like where does he hide it? Or does that become part of the animal too? Okay so normally the one who chooses the 'chosen one' is not normally involved much in the movie, in this case the Ocean but I am happy to report in this film it was different. The ocean had several scenes and I loved the part when Maui tries to get rid of Moana the Ocean would just bring her back EVERY SINGLE TIME! 😆😍

Oh and the music! I loved it! My favourite track would have to be How Far I'll Go sung by Auli'l herself although I do love Alessia Cara's version too. Within the first 30 mins of the movie, I think there was like 3 songs already! I know, I thought I was watching a musical first! Joking, chill.

The likeness of these two characters is astonishing, not only do they look like each other but in my opinion they are also very alike. See for yourself:

I really do love this picture and the resemblance is striking! Moana is my favourite character, I loved her because I really feel like like her , I know what it is like to be torn between different paths especially when something like the ocean is calling to her, each of us want to find what is that special something that is calling to us and who were meant to be.

I hope there is more to come from this franchise, this is definitely a family film to watch.
