I LOVE this series, I have watched all of these movies since the first one came out (sometime in the 2000s?) and let me tell you if you have not watched the first movie then you REALLY need to. I am a big advocate on animated movies that have a positive impact for the younger generation (Mattel have started doing this with Barbie movies, reinforcing the ideas that young women/children can do anything they set their mind to. I personally love this).

There is no doubt that this movie could have had a better reception, and although I personally did love some aspects of the movie I do think out of all the franchise this one is the most disappointing. It seems like Fox has ran out of ideas, they could have done better. Some critics have stated this movie is not funny or original in any expect. I do agree with this sentiment, being a lover of this franchise, I love the unconventional ideas the film brought. A herd being formed by a sloth, a mammoth and a saber tooth tiger. All three characters have astonishing and different personalities bringing a ton of flavour to the movie not to mention comedy, Sid who is undoubtedly the funniest in the movie (he also has the tendency to act a bit dense sometimes) keeps the whole pack together like glue. He has the ability to talk sensible sometimes, he is very naive, carefree, friendly and talks a ALOT (me and Sid would bond very well, we would never shut up). Manny, he can seem a bit distant and uncaring, but once he sets his mind to something he can be very courageous and brave. Diego, who is my favourite 😍😍😍💓💓,  can be described as cynical, although he has no intention to be like that he is actually a sweetheart once you get past his tough act exterior.

The nature of this movie takes the young heroes finding out how to stop an incoming asteroid, and to stop history from repeating itself again. Buck, the ever so cunning weasel is the one who realises they must stop this before it ends up destroying their homes once and for all. According to Buck, they can find a way to stop this, however, they must go to the place where the previous asteroids have fallen.

This is where it goes a bit downfall for me, I am not sure whether the plot is what ruined it for me or something else. The new characters introduced where a good attempt from Fox, however, I am not sure they did justice to their purpose as secondary roles. It was a typical storyline - heroes trying to save the world, new characters refusing to help (since they would have to give up their luxury lifestyle. Its quite surprising to know they are in fact very old, poor Sid his love is actually a hundred years old-I'm sure she is older than that but I can't quite remember her age)

Despite the nature of the movie being disappointing, Manny and the other characters show a perfect representation of what a father goes through when his girl is getting married. Ellie's guidance and love for her daughter and Manny does well in trying to bridge the gap between Julian and Manny especially when he realises that him acting like that may mean he will lose his only child. Sometimes in life we don't see how our behaviour may be the cause to losing something important in life and it comes down to our loved ones guiding us in the right direction.

Have you seen any of the movies from this franchise? What did you think? Who is your favourite character? Let me know in the comments below.
