Synopsis:

TEENAGE GIRL FLEES THE UNDEAD !!!

Living at home is driving seventeen-year-old Astrid Sonnschein nuts. She's desperate to leave her parents behind, and why not, with stepfather George a foul-tempered old vampire, and Mom - well, the less we say about Mom the better.

And our heroine has another compelling reason for getting out of Dodge. If she stays home much longer she's in grave danger of being transformed forever, and the last thing she wants is to become the newest Nosferatu.

So it's off to Rosenberg High and relative safety. Except it's far from safe when her relatives are holier than holy Aunt Jean, beer-swilling couch potato Uncle James and devious, cat-loving cousin Emma. And that's just evenings and weekends. Astrid Sonnschein's schooldays teem with teeth-sinkable challenges, the man of her dreams refuses to play by the rules, and the plethora of pitchfork-bearing peasants are beginning to mutter.

Peasants-schmeasants! It's when the full moon rises that Astrid's real troubles begin ...

I received this book free in an exchange for honest an review thanks to YA Bound book tours

This is such a compelling story with a dark element, I seriously could not put this book down and I ended up reading it in one sitting! How amazing is a story which is not all rainbows and sunshine for once and has a very capitivating plot that just draws the reader in? Not many do

Astrid doesn't have a easy life being a half vampire, she is constantly tortured by Angus and George. She is a quick thinker, fiery and very compassionate. Anything she does you know she does is it wholeheartedly  I found it interesting how she acts like a magnet and draws the 'death' of her class mates in and being the newcomer she is automatically perceived as guilty of charge. Sometimes society, rumors and people within the community are perfect examples of how they can make someone lose confidence in themselves and feel ugly. This was evident in the book and I liked how I could relate to it when somestimes we are labelled as guilty for a crime we did not committ.

Mike is perfect in every way, I mean literally! He has the good looks, perfect body was a ace athlete only to become a officer and whilst he broke many hearts I was happy to realise the mystery behind it (leaving the city). Although you don't find that out until towards the end of the book, there was enough mystery and suspense in this book to keep you interested. What I like most about him is he trusts his instincts (well I hope so anyways) and keeps the evidence to how it is rather than go by confessions, the way it should be. I can't really say I enjoyed his partner, I found her very annoying and just reading the signals wrong. Like hello lady can you not take a hint???

George and Angus are the antagonist in this story. I can't decide who I hate more George or Angus? I hate them both for very different reasons but I am so glad when of them dies, he so deserves a worse and more painful death but death nonetheless.

Hmm..comment on the plot? What I liked mostly about this were how strong Astrid was shown despite not being a vampire, the love interest, her friend Rachel is amazing like seriously! The plot is very intensive too like each layer is revealed only once you peel it and get deeper into the surface like an onion! Weird comparison I know! But its true, it  really is a remarkable story and one you should try if you love vampires!   I'm guessing there is a second book since the way it ended, I hope so!

P.S.  Fifty Percent Vampire will be on sale at 0.99 USD/0.99 GBP from March 7-13 during the tour! Amazing right?
